The appointment reflects GCC’s commitment to strengthening international cultural cooperation and promoting mutual understanding among civilizations through arts and cultural exchange.

Professor Ma is a nationally recognized first-class performer and one of the leading figures in China's contemporary cultural and artistic community. A pioneer of cross-cultural artistic innovation, Professor Ma has created and produced a series of internationally acclaimed projects, including “Erhu Shakes Hands with the World,” “Dialogue Between Erhu and the World,” and “Strings Across the World.” Her work has helped bring traditional Chinese music to new global audiences while encouraging artistic collaboration across cultural boundaries.

Professor Ma has also collaborated with internationally renowned artists and participated in major cultural productions, including the recording of the Academy Award-winning film Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. Her contributions to cultural diplomacy and artistic excellence have earned her numerous honors, including recognition as a Chinese International Cultural Ambassador, Global Expo Cultural Ambassador, United Nations Peace Artist, and Special Olympics Ambassador.

GCC believes that culture serves as one of the most powerful and enduring bridges connecting people across nations. Professor Ma's extensive international experience, artistic achievements, and longstanding commitment to cultural exchange make her exceptionally well suited to lead the GCC Arts Committee.

Under her leadership, the Committee will support international music exchanges, cultural and creative cooperation, heritage preservation initiatives, youth arts education, and global cultural dialogue programs. It will also work to strengthen cooperation among artists, cultural institutions, cities, and international organizations worldwide.

The appointment marks an important milestone in GCC’s efforts to expand its international cultural engagement and promote people-to-people exchanges. GCC looks forward to working closely with Professor Ma Xiaohui and partners around the world to foster greater understanding, friendship, and cooperation through the universal language of art.
