The Global City Connect (GCC) project was officially launched on December 3 during the “AI+ Ecosystem Paradigm Forum” of the 2025 Boao Forum for Entrepreneurs.
Jointly initiated by the City Public Art Research Institute together with multiple partner organizations, the Global City Connect project aims to explore new mechanisms for networked city cooperation and enterprise internationalization. Through integrated online and offline platforms, the initiative seeks to provide organized, systematic support for Chinese enterprises expanding overseas and engaging in international cooperation.
The City Public Art Research Institute focuses on sustainable development pathways for Chinese cities and enterprises in the context of globalization. Forum participants noted that China’s “going global” strategy has evolved from single-project expansion to a new phase characterized by synergy among cities, industries, and capital, with cities’ international engagement capacity and resource coordination increasingly becoming critical foundations for enterprise global布局.
According to the organizers, Global City Connect positions itself as an “international cooperation service hub”, serving governments, industrial parks, enterprises, and cross-border cooperation institutions. Its core services include city-to-city resource linkage, industrial collaboration, project implementation facilitation, and international communication support. Unlike traditional exchange platforms, GCC emphasizes scenario-based cooperation and measurable outcomes, using project implementation and replicable cooperation mechanisms as key evaluation benchmarks.
At present, the project is advancing the development of physical Global City Connect hubs. Within China, preparatory work is underway in Beijing, Shanghai, Xinjiang, and Shenzhen. Internationally, hubs in Islamabad, Singapore, Riyadh, Dubai, Tokyo, and Sydney have also been initiated, focusing on sister-city engagement, enterprise landing services, international project coordination, and cross-border cooperation.
In addition, the project plans to establish a membership system and advisory services, offering support in policy consultation, legal and compliance services, investment and financing facilitation, market research, and international brand communication.
Project leaders stated that future efforts will concentrate on advancing four key service systems: precise matching between cities and industries, provision of physical implementation scenarios, integration of comprehensive cross-border services, and the construction of long-term international cooperation communities—supporting enterprises in building sustainable and scalable global development pathways.
